Raffles will get out of hotel operations

Article Abstract:

Singapore-based Raffles Holdings Ltd., which manages or partly owns 41 hotels worldwide, is selling its entire hotel enterprise to Colony Capital LLC of the United States. Currently ranking 17th or 18th in market capitalization and number of rooms internationally, Raffles chose to exit the hotel business rather than pursue the potential investments and cash calls it would require in order to establish a competitive global standing for itself.

New Germany Fund Inc. of the United States is facing management infighting as dissident investor Phillip Goldstein attempts to terminate closed-end fund status. The Board of Directors says this management move is not in the best interest of longterm shareholders.
