Re-opening

Article Abstract:

The insurance market of Latin America became more open to foreign investors during the 1990s, and this is reaching Brazil, which has opened more slowly than other countries in the region. The Brazilian reinsurance market is controlled by a government monopoly and underinsurance should mean that there is great potential for growth in Brazil. Major international insurers have established strongholds elsewhere in Latin America, and are interested in the Brazilian market. Privatization should be prompt if the government wants a good price for its reinsurance monopoly.

Tall storeys

Article Abstract:

There are plans to rebuild the center of Birmingham, England, and a real estate developer, Hampton Trust, aims to build the tallest skyscaper in Britain as part of the redevelopment project. The plan is for the building to contain apartments, a hotel and offices, and for tourists to have access to the top. Other parts of the development appear to be similar to a successful project already carried out in Birmingham, which aims to improve the quality of its architecture.
