Refining China

Article Abstract:

Many multinational concerns and their financial advisers are beginning to reconsider plans to invest in China, and some projects have already been cancelled. China has seen strong economic growth over recent years, and appears to be an attractive investment location. However, investment has proved complicated in practice, and foreign concerns are now being deterred. This is clearly shown in the case of Elf-Aquitaine, which has decided not to go ahead with a planned $2.5 billion oil refinery in Shanghai.
