Reforming public services - the NHS and foundation hospitals

Article Abstract:

The economic issues that formed a part on the reform of public sector institutions on the basis of the development in the National Health Service (NHS) especially in case of Foundation hospitals were examined. The Government has aimed to expand the role of primary health care, which would reduce the pressure on hospitals by switching service provision to General Practitioners (GP) and introducing new services like NHS walk-in centers and NHS Direct.

The recent trends for the tax year 2003-04 in the tax policy at UK are highlighted, with emphasis on income tax. Income tax is a progressive tax and the most important tax in UK, which applies to most forms of income, including earnings from employment and self-employment, investment income, old age pensions and some social security benefits.
