Renault to enter luxury market with three models in Europe

Article Abstract:

Renault SA is targeting the luxury-automobile market in Europe. The company presently has three new luxury car models that are being prepared for the market. Two of the models are overhauls of the Safrane sedan and Espace minivan models. The third is the Avantime model, which is a combination of a minivan and a sporty coupe. Renault is hoping to exploit the changes that are taking place in European car-purchasing preferences.

Nuclear spill stirs fears: Japan quake damage raises safety issues for power industry

Article Abstract:

A 6.8 earthquake that hit Japan caused spillage of radioactive water at one of the nuclear power plants owned by Tokyo Electric Power Co. The spillage, estimated to be 1,140 liters, came from a pool storing spent fuel assemblies. The water went into a sump that then emptied it into the Sea of Japan. The incident has raised concerns over safety.

Thrifty electric car turns on one town

Article Abstract:

Electric cars manufactured by Global Electric Motorcars L.L.C. are being widely adopted in Lincoln, California. These vehicles, which resemble golf carts, are inexpensive to purchase and use, and are a good way to help reduce vehicle emissions.
