Fiat suministra 16 trenes a Polonia por 33,000 millones

According to Spanish subsidiary Fiat Iberica, a contract worth Pta 33,000mn to supply 16 'Pendolino' trains to Polish rail operator, PKP, has been awarded through an international tender to Fiat Ferroviario. The trains will cover the Dantzig-Warsaw-Cracov line. The local industry will also participate in the manufacture of the trains, the first of which are scheduled to be delivered in late 2000. Also competing in the tender were Siemens and ADtranz.

The Spanish public railway operator Renfe is negotiating the purchase of 14 'intercity 200' trains from the rolling stock consortium Fiat-Alstom . By this deal, 14 more trains would be added to the ten to become operative in the Madrid-Valencia 'velocidad alta' line (below 220Km/h). The new agreement would amount to Pta 12,000mn to be paid through a renting formula. *
