Resolution board withdraws support for Standard Life offer

Article Abstract:

Resolution PLC's board has recommended that shareholders refrain from action regarding a takeover offer for the UK insurer by Standard Life PLC. The announcement was made after rival Pearl Assurance PLC made a third increased bid, valued at 5.1 bil pounds sterling. Standard Life's previous bid was 4.9 bil pounds sterling.

Panel delays Scor's Converium bid

Article Abstract:

A $2.77 bil bid by French reinsurance company Scor S.A. to purchase the Swiss firm Converium Holding has been delayed by the Swiss Takeover Board. The Board and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission are currently in talks over whether a separate U.S. bid must be made by Scor to its American shareholder base.
