Vneshtorgbank primps for London share offer

Vneshtorgbank of Russia is planning an initial public offering offering 23 percent of assets on the London Stock Exchange. The Russian banking interest hopes the initial public offering will raise 120 billion Rubles ($4.5 billion). Vneshtorgbank is considering the acquisition of Renaissance Capital Group Inc. and Troika Dialog also of Russia.

Sberbank issue raises $8.8 billion

Article Abstract:

Sberbank of Russia posted $8.8 billion in the second largest stock sale within Russia. Share price for sale was 89,000 Rubles ($3,394) or a 4.3 percent less than yesterdays price of $3, 545. Share price value places the Russian banking interest as comprable to Deutsche Bank AG of Germany.

Standard Chartered's SIV plan collapses

A plan by UK bank Standard Chartered PLC to provide in excess of $7 bil to back Whistlejacket, a structured investment vehicle, fell through as the bank was forced to assign a receiver for Whistlejacket due to increased losses in the vehicle's underlying assets.
