Ritual Sacrifice? Not on my street, some Belgians say

Article Abstract:

The ritual sacrafice of sheep by Muslims at Eid al-Adha in Belgium has caused a political impasse with animal rights activists and the local population. A 1988 Belgian law prohibits the ritual sacrafice of animals at home so there is conflict as Muslims take sheep to the local abbatoir for slaughter. Mohamed Mimoun was given a ticket by a policewoman because the sheep in the trunk of his car was not wearing a seatbelt in the back seat.
