Riverside show: Dundee Wharf, Limehouse, London

Article Abstract:

Architectural firm CZWG has designed Dundee Wharf, a development of around 160 flats in the Docklands area of London, England, for client Ballymore Properties. The building is very striking, rising from three storeys at the inland ends to eight and 11 storeys across the riverfront. There is a range of brickwork detailing using a standard yellow London stock. Special pre-cast concrete units were used at the ends of the main riverside facade to overcome the problem of going round a sloping corner.

Recognising the potential of the London riverside

Article Abstract:

Landscape architect Kim Wilkie Environmental Design's suggested developments for Seething Wells Water Works at Surbiton, London and Alexander Pope villa in Twickenham, London are described. The River Thames site proposals follow the designs of the company's highly respected Thames Landscape Strategy from Hampton to Kew. The Seething Wells development is unlikely to go ahead due to a lack of funding. The Alexander Pope villa is expected to win funding from the National Lottery.

Lofty ideals: McDowell and Benedetti's riverside warehouse conversion takes advantage of spectacular views of the Thames to produce a series of spaces, some offering comfort, warmth and shelter, others openness and exposure to the elements

Article Abstract:

McDowell and Benedetti's riverside warehouse conversion features a low, curved roof, with a glazed steel frame, as an extension to the existing penthouse apartment. The interior layout of the apartment is centered around the kitchen and there are two separate open mezzanine platforms within the main volume. The new extension provides a lounge space which opens on to a terrace, featuring cast-glass seats to allow light into the gallery below.
