Roche and Decode make progress on gene findings

Two genetic engineering companies, Decode Genetics Inc. and Roche Holding Ltd., will reveal today that they have made progress in applying two earlier gene discoveries into potential treatments for schizophrenia and the narrowing of arteries.

Alliance propels PowderJect stock

Article Abstract:

PowderJect Pharmaceuticals PLC saw its share value rise by 23% after it announced a $100 million research alliance with Ares-Serono SA, a drug manufacturer based in Switzerland. PowderJect, which is based in the UK, also announced its plans to raise an additional 52 million pound sterling ($84.6 million) to providing funding for another vaccine venture. PowderJect has created a painless device that injects medicines and vaccines without the use of a needle.
