Romania likely to delay Bell helicopter project

Article Abstract:

Bell Helicopter Textron Inc.'s proposed helicopter development venture with the government of Romania is expected to be derailed on account of unavailability of sufficient funds. The Romanian government has expressed plans to temporarily shelve the helicopter development project due to its inability to secure funding from the International Monetary Fund and the World Bank. The project called for Romania and Bell Textron to produce 96 units of AH-1 RO attack helicopters, patterned after the AH-1W Supercobra of the US Marines, for use of the Romanian Army.
