Russia to raise gas prices at home: aim is to cool local demand and protect export supply amid warning of shortage

Article Abstract:

Russia, the world's largest producer of natural gas, will raise the price of the fuel in an effort to control increasing demand. This move is necessary in order to ensure an adequate supply for export. Low domestic prices have led to fears of a shortage of natural gas.

U.K. natural-gas prices climb

Article Abstract:

Prices of natural gas increased in the United Kingdom on May 14, 2003 due to transportation problems in the southeast region. Prices rose to 21.50 to 21.75 pence (30 European cents to 30.4 European cents).
