Russia oil output is showing signs of leveling off

Article Abstract:

Petroleum production in Russia is stagnating although Russian oil output has increased 50 percent since 1999, as new global oil exploration and reserves is down. Russian petroleum production has fallen slightly with increased control by Russian regulators causing a sharp decline in investment. President Vajit Alekperov of OAO Lukoil forecasts petroleum industry production to level off at 9.2 million to 9.4 million barrels a day over the coming years.

Azerbaijan is expecting to grow the economy by 20 percent this year due to production increases in the petroleum industry. BP PLC is planning a $4 billion petroleum pipeline from Baku to Ceyhan, Turkey. Production from the pipeline is estimated to be one million barrels per day.

Mexico's biggest oil field sees decline

The Cantarell oil field, the largest in Mexico is producing less petroleum than forecast. Production statistics are down to 1.74 million barrels per day in June 2006 from 1.92 million barrels per day in January 2006.
