Ryanair pares fares as travel slows in Europe: discount airline sees summer 'price war,' to hold market share

First-quarter net profit for Ireland's Ryanair Ltd. rose to $587.7 mil, as the airline posted a 42% growth rate for the year. Sales were up 32%. However, airline officials believe growth will drop to about 5% this year due to higher costs and lower ticket prices.

Aer Lingus debut may be difficult

Aer Lingus Group PLC of Ireland is launching an initial public offering trading in London and Ireland. Shares are to be priced at 2.10 Euros to 2.70 Euros ($2.69 to $3.45) per share. The airlines is hoping to raise up to 872.9 million Euros or $1.12 billion.

IPO of Aer Lingus prices at low end; shares rise 8.2 percent

Aer Lingus Group PLC of Ireland shares have risen 8.2 percent after the initial public offering. The airline stock rose to 2.38 Euros ($3.02) compared with opening share price of 2.20 Euros.
