SPIC TO ABSORB ITS AILING MMP UNIT

Article Abstract:

Spic has decided to absorb the ailing magnetic media project division of Spic Electronic and Systems Ltd (Spel). This will permit Spel to concentrate on its core competency business of integrated circuits packaging. The magnetic media project to produce computer tapes, floppies, diskettes and jumbo rolls could not operate effectively due to lack of in-house research and development facilities. (khr)

MICROCHIP TECH'S INDIA LIAISON OFFICE TO BE MADE INTO SUBSIDIARY

Article Abstract:

Microchip Technologies Inc of the US has decided to convert its three-year old India liaison office in to a subsidiary in 1998- 99. It is also thinking of setting up a microcontroller design centre at Bangalore. The company says that it will benefit by setting up a design centre in India due to lower costs and design skills.
