STMicroelectronics posts a net loss, but remains upbeat

STMicroelectronics NV posted its first quarterly net loss in the 2001 second-quarter. The company posted a $164.5 million (191.4 million euros) net loss for the period, compared to a $336.5 million net profit during the same 2000 period.
