New secure electronic delivery systems are being used to transmit sensitive materials and documents by using the speed of the Internet with the reliability and flexibility of courier services. Courier firms such as TNT and UPS, are in fact, at forefront of electronic delivery services by transforming a competitive threat into an opportunity. The delivery of a secure electronic document starts when the carrier encrypts the electronic file using public/private key infrastructure technology. The files are sent to a secure Web site where recipients can access them.
