Sweet flying Osprey

Article Abstract:

The Bell-Boeing MV-22 Osprey is undergoing intense tactical manoeuvres and validation exercises with the US Navy, following the tiltrotor aircraft's completion of the basic flight envelope definition test. Test pilots covering the latest exercises involving the MV-22 aired their enthusiasm over the capabilities and potential of the tiltrotor, particularly the synergy between aircraft and its avionics fit and displays. The V-22 also offers an expanded flight envelope to reach a maximum speed of 342 kt TAS and take-off with a gross weight of about 60,500 lbs.

Stallion anniversary

Article Abstract:

The 107-strong CH-53G helicopter fleet of the German Army has reached its 500,000th flight hours in a span of nearly three decades. The CH-53G is a variant of the original CH-53A Sea Stallion that replaced the Vertol H-21 and H-34 helicopters in 1965. The German Army, which uses the helicopter fleet primarily for humanitarian relief work during peace time, considers the aircraft the safest due to a record of only four accidents since its debut with the service.

Jack of all trades

Article Abstract:

The Bell 412CF helicopter, designated by the Canadian Armed Forces as the CH-146 Griffon, was chosen to replace the CH-136 Kiowa light scout, the CH-135 Twin Huey medium-lifter and the CH-118 Iroquois search-and-rescue and transport helicopters in 1991. While, not as agile as the Kiowa, the Griffon has managed to prove its worth to the Canadian Armed Forces through its flexibility in both wartime and peacetime uses through the intervening years.
