Samsung's challenge: South Korean auto makers fear new rival

Article Abstract:

South Korean automobile manufacturers expressed concern over the license to manufacture commercial vehicles granted to the Samsung Group. The big five manufacturers, Ssangyong Motors, Asia Motors, Daewoo Group, Kia Motors and Hyundai Motors view the license as a step toward a license to manufacture automobiles. The entry of another manufacturer into the crowded car market would undercut the dwindling shares of the five companies. The market has been congested by low demands as the manufacturers are at their production peak.
