Scheduling in robotic cells: complexity and steady state analysis

Article Abstract:

An analysis of three machine cell system scheduling with regards to complexity issues and steady state performance reveals that the part sequencing problem is unary NP-complete for two out of six potentially optimal move cycles. The study also finds that the four other cycles are found to be effective in defining efficiently solvable part sequencing problems and that the general part sequencing problem not restricted to any 3-machine cell robot move cycle is unary NP-complete.

The multicovering problem

Article Abstract:

An algorithm capable of solving large multicovering or generalized set covering problems involving scheduling, location and other business areas is developed. The various elements in a branch-and-bound approach for solving multicovering problems in such cases are tackled in detail. Some primal heuristics for calculating feasible solutions as well as heuristics utilized in searching for dual feasible solutions giving lower bounds on optimal cost are described.

A maximum procedure for the optimal insertion timing of ad executions

Article Abstract:

An analytical model to assess the optimal timing of varied long-running advertisement executions is presented. The model incorporates an objective function that maximizes minimum effectiveness. Moreover, the study was able to show a positive return in investment once improved effectiveness of individual advertisements is aimed at executions with relatively low effectiveness.
