Schools of thought

Article Abstract:

A former school boarding house (Reckitt House) at Leighton Park School in Reading was converted into flats, by Nicholas Hare Architects, and a new structure was built to replace it. A further boarding house was built so that repairs to School House, the main building, could be facilitated. The new School House shallow pitched aluminium roofs with steel windows, while Reckitt House has a tiled roof and incorporates a courtyard. The different styles of architecture arose due to the different sites. A cost analysis for Reckitt House is given, and working details are described.
