Segro sets sale of U.S. unit

U.K. real estate investment trust Segro PLC, formerly Slough Estates PLC, is selling its American unit, Slough Estates USA Inc., to Health Care Property Investors Inc. in a deal totaling $2.9 bil. Segro has decided to focus on European property developments.

RBS's net rises 22%, despite write-downs

Full-year 2007 net profit for Royal Bank of Scotland PLC increased 22% to $14.96 bil, while other costs including net write-downs totaled $2.3 bil for 2007. RBS is the UK's second-biggest bank ranked by market capitalization.
