Self service kiosks for domestic passengers

Article Abstract:

US Airways Inc has followed other airlines' move to introduce self service kiosks for passengers on domestic routes. These kiosks can be used to purchase tickets, check-in, select a seat, or collect an electronic reseravtion on US Airways flights. They are also capable of printing receipts and boarding passes and crediting dividend miles. US Airways has already installed more than 12 kiosks manufactured by IBM at both Washington's Ronald Reagan National and Bostons, MA's Logan International airports.

Sita reports positive start to 2001

Article Abstract:

Sita posted sales of US$47 million so far in 2001, for its airport support services and systems. Its information technology solutions include the Common Use Terminal Equipment, AirportVision information display systems, Local Area Network and AirportResource Management Solutions. The sales include contract awards from the Egyption CAA, Aeropuertos del Sureste in Mexico, San Diego International and Minneapolis/St Paul International.

SITA plans wireless networks

Article Abstract:

SITA plans to launch a pilot program which would develop a wireless network for airlines and airport applications in North America. It intends to broaden the reach of wireless local area networks which are already being used in many airports throughout the world. SITA has a high-speed data network that offers communications on and off the airport and facilitates the convergence of fixed and mobile data.
