Shell, BASF near plastics-venture sale

Article Abstract:

Royal Dutch/Shell Group and B.A.S.F. AG are to divest their plastics industry joint venture, Basell N.V. of Germany to Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. of India. The giant plastics manufacturer produces a myriad of basic materials from auto parts to diapers. Haldia Petrochemicals Ltd. has financial backing from Chatterjee Group and Access Industries, both of New York.

Stock Splits Decline in U.S

Article Abstract:

Stock splits are becoming a more rare occurence, decreasing since 2001. The latest companies to announce a stock split are Nike Inc. of the United States and Sealed Air Corp. also of the United States. Nike Inc. shares are up to $106.30 and have appreciated greater than 70 percent in the last five years.

Rexam sees growth in plastics; U.K. packaging firm aims to trim reliance on aluminum cans

In an effort to combat declining aluminum can sales, beverage container manufacturer Rexam PLC is shifting its focus to rigid plastics. Rexam has been acquiring plastics companies and expanding into cosmetic and pharmaceutical packaging.
