Baggage conveyor installed overnight
Article Abstract:
Melbourne Airport has successfully installed and commissioned a new pallet loop baggage make-up conveyor at its Ansett baggage handling facility overnight. A fast-track installation was needed because the existing conveyor system had already exceeded its useful life span. The new conveyor, which added approximately 25 meters to give a total length of 100 meters, was designed and fabricated off site by baggage handling contractor, AP Morling.

Munich consolidates its hub status
Article Abstract:
Passenger traffic at Munich International Airport reached 23 million in FY 2000, up by 9% from the previous year. Annual revenues for FY 2000 also surpassed the 1-million deutsche mark level for the first time. The results confirm Munich's position as Europe's 9th largest airport and the 37th in the world. For FY 2001, the airport expects a 14% rise in take- offs and landings for the summer season, with Lufthansa planning 400 flights weekly.
