Small technology-based professional consultancy services in the United Kingdom

Article Abstract:

The rising evidence of the employment by bigger manufacturing organizations for specialist professional service companies that offer a particular technological input must further be examined since only a few research has been made regarding this phenomenon. A study concentrating on the processes by which technical consultancies and their initial client relationships are formed, has shown that majority of consultants had worked in a technical position of a big organization before beginning their own business.

The application of activity-based costing in the United Kingdom's largest financial institutions

Article Abstract:

Activity-based costing (ABC) has become known in previous years as a more favorable option over conventional costing systems. Its development has included various service sector applications and its utilization across the core management accounting areas of decision making, control and performance measurement. In a 1994 survey of the UK's biggest financial institutions, it was found that 17 respondents, or 54%, were employing ABC, and on the average had been applying it for 1.8 years.

Choice and perceived quality of family practitioners in the United States and the United Kingdom

Article Abstract:

Patients perceive the quality of service of primary care providers in the US and the UK as essentially the same even though the two health care systems are vastly different. However, there is a slightly higher dissatisfaction rate among US patients. Professionalism, communication skills and the provision of treatment-related information are important factorsin patients' evaluation of service quality.
