Tenant mix, tenant placement and shopper behavior in a planned shopping centre

Article Abstract:

A study on tenant placement, tenant mix and shopper behavior in shopping centers is discussed. The findings indicate that location and entry points to stores in shopping centers are crucial in determining their popularity among shoppers. Additionally, the findings indicate that the movement of shoppers is confined to only a small part of the shopping center. The study also demonstrates that a match, rather than a mix, approach to the arrangement of stores in the center is essential for the other stores to get customers. Additional research on shopping centers is suggested.

The service sector in planned economies of Eastern Europe: past experiences and future perspectives

Article Abstract:

The service sectors of centrally planned economies (CPEs) exhibit varying patterns of employment and investment growth. This fact negates the popular view that industrialization efforts has crowded out employment and investment in the service sector. There is, in fact, no noticeable crowding out of service investment nor growth rates in the Soviet Union and Bulgaria. The service sectors in Czechoslovakia, East Germany, Hungary and Romania are performing better than the industrial sector. Service investment levels in Poland likewise invalidate the 'crowding out' theory.

The impact of service sector growth on intersectoral linkages in the United States

Article Abstract:

An input-output analysis of the growth of the services industry was conducted to determine its impact on intersectoral linkages in the US. Results indicate that high total linkages are found in the manufacturing and agricultural sectors and that the services industry only exhibits low linkage effects. Results also show that the growth of the service sector has minimized the degree of interrelationships between industries.
