Smaller drug companies draw investor interest amid flu scare

Article Abstract:

Some investors, betting on an avian influenza pandemic, are turning to smaller pharmaceutical companies whose shares will move sharply if their vaccines and medications are called into mass distribution. Roche Holding Ltd. of Switzerland has posted a 15 percent increas to 187.50 Swiss Francs ($145.23 United States Dollars). Sanofi-Aventis S.A. of France is developing an avian influenza vaccine.

Interest rates pump volatility into stocks

Article Abstract:

The United States stock market has become volatile and an economic slowdown is forecast. The interest rate increases introduced by Alan Greenspan of the United States Federal Reserve Board has effected the stock market. The stock market is down and although far from being a bear market it is causing investors to worry.

Hong Kong Disneyland's magic won't sprinkle evenly on stocks

Walt Disney Co. in a joint venture with the Hong Kong government are opening a theme park in Hong Kong Monday. The venture is expected to bring in $19 billion (United States Dollars) to the city's economy over a period of 40 years.
