Smiths Group's future is hazy after venture with GE is dissolved

Article Abstract:

US firm General Electric Co. and UK equipment manufacturer Smiths Group PLC have abandoned their plans to create a security-screening technology joint venture after being unable to develop a common vision. The plan was announced when GE bought Smiths Group's aerospace business in January 2007 for $4.8 bil. The joint venture's failure has raised speculation regarding whether or not Smiths Group will split.

AOL bids for TradeDoubler

Article Abstract:

America Online Inc. of the United States has offered to purchase TradeDoubler AB of Sweden in a deal valued at approximately $900 million. The American internet company is planning on growing into the European online advertising market. Alecta, a major shareholder in TradeDoubler AB rejected the bid offer, which will likely cause America Online Inc. to raise its offer.

Husqvarna broadens product line with deal for Germany's Gardena
