Stuck in low gear

Article Abstract:

Auto Journal Inc's new car magazine catering to women was instant success after it was launched in Jan 2000. The magazine, which is published in the English version 'My Car' and French version 'Auto pour moi,' was well received by ad agencies in Quebec that 12 pages of advertising in both versions were bought at $10,090 per page. However, despite the success in Quebec, the planned cross-Canada issue of 'My Car' did not materialize because some ad agencies do not support a car magazine for women.

B.C. to get transit newspaper

Article Abstract:

Translink of Burnaby, BC, is planning to issue a request for proposals by the end of Jan 2001, that may lead to the creation of anther daily for Vancouver. Two companies, Metro International and Pacific Press, have expressed their interest in the venture. Although Translink is open to ideas, it would prefer a free daily tabloid as is the case in other markets. A newspaper is expected to provide Translink with the ability to collect revenue and communicate with more people.
