Soft drinks in Eastern Europe

Article Abstract:

The transition of former communist countries in Eastern Europe into capitalist economies has made possible the introduction of more Western consumer products into the markets. Demand has increased for long-unobtainable goods such as imported soft drinks. Russia is the largest market for soft drinks with a 49% share of the regional market in 1997. Hungary has the largest per capita consumption of fruit juices at ten liters in 1997. The overall market for soft drinks in the whole region is projected to increase by 5% annually.
