Article Abstract:

The Oct, 2001, meeting of the Organisation of the Islamic Conference was marked by a high level of agreement between Muslim leaders, who condemned the Sep 2001 terrorist attacks on the US. However, there was also a feeling that governments' suppression of national aspirations can provoke terrorism.

Long affair, first doubts: Italy (relations with the European Community)

Article Abstract:

The Italian people have always embraced the EC but as full monetary union nears, internal opposition is growing. A big budget deficit and the lira's drop below the Exchange Rate Mechanism minimum may mean that Italy will be put in a second tier in the unification process.
