Sony builds buzz on artist via Web

Article Abstract:

Sony Music is engaged in an advertising campaign that promotes singer Melanie Doane's Web site and the chance to have a say in her songs, packaging and imaging. An official says they believe more information can be offered to the public through the Web site, as opposed to a different campaign. The initial campaign will cost the company C$75,000, to be followed by more spending when the October 1998 launch of Doane's album nears. That will include TV promotions on MuchMusic, YTV and CTV. The company says they are trying to create a base of female followers aged 18 to 35 years.

There's something special about travel

Article Abstract:

Trip giveaways are an important part of marketing plans because they have a special appeal that few other contest prizes can match. However, in giving away a vacation prize, brands must complement each other, and travel companies should know how to get involved. Also, partners in the promotion must ensure that they are a good fit and that each gets a chance to stand out, whether it be the destination itself, the hotel operator, the transportation provider or the event sponsor.
