South Africa looks ahead to longer term rights

Horst Kleinschmidt, head of the South African fisheries department has succeeded in sorting out the problems of allocating quotas to black-owned companies. He has also made the application forms for fishing rights simple following the complaints of illiterate fishermen.

Irvin & Johnson (I&J) of Capetown obtained the Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) standard certification for its hake fishery after a 20 month certification process, it was granted with some corrective action suggestions, these suggestions are listed.
