Space and magical light in a Venetian restoration: Brooks/Murray Architects describes its restoration of the British Pavilion, Venice, as the Biennale celebrates its centenary

Article Abstract:

The upgrade of the British Pavilion in the Giardini Biennale was undertaken by British architect Brooks/Murray, commissioned by the British Council. A new stainless steel stair entrance was designed to incorporate a chair lift allowing full access for disabled people. The basement has been rennovated to provide private entertainment and exhibition space, but also allowing for storage.

Diverse perceptions of interior space

Article Abstract:

Within these Walls is an exhibition looking at the different traditions of representing space, particularly domestic space. It is being held at Kettle's Yard in Cambridge, which was originally the home of Helen and Jim Ede's collection of early twentieth-century British art. A subliminal theme about nature runs through the exhibition, including the photography of paul Graham.

51st Venice Art Biennale

Article Abstract:

The 51st Venice Art Biennale is to be held at various venues in Venice, Italy until November 6, 2005. It offers a highly diverse collection of different generations and genres, which includes Israeli pavilion and Eliasson's pavilion.
