Spend, spend, spend

Article Abstract:

Taxes have increased as a percentage of gross domestic product since the Labor party gained power in Britain, though the government had previously claimed it was cutting taxes. Higher taxes was seen as a way of losing votes, and Conservative party leader, William Hague, claims that government should keep taxes low for moral reasons. There have been calls for increased spending on education and health, and there is a majority prepared to pay higher taxes to improve these services.
