Stars in their eyes

Article Abstract:

The Software Business Network (SBN) aims to introduce a new dynamism into the UK software industry. The Computing Software and Services Association set up the SBN in 1998 to promote the UK industry with US-style techniques. The SBN recently held its first Partnering and Investment Forum. This two-day event brought together representatives from 49 of the UK's small software businesses with possible partners and financiers. The companies have an opportunity to sell themselves in a way which is not natural in British culture but which has promoted success in the US software industry.

Gates opens up

Article Abstract:

Leadership plays a significant role in the management of a successful company, according to Microsoft founder Bill Gates. He feels that leadership is a key element of his job, along with selecting the areas of technology in which the company should develop a presence. He believes that no company has yet really moved itself completely into the information era. He emphasizes that Microsoft seeks to be a showcase in terms of the use of its own technology, but acknowledges that the company will have to reinvent itself many times in the future.
