Steel in Asia: Why Japan is losing its metal

Article Abstract:

South Korean steel company Pohang Iron & Steel (POSCO) is on pace to overtake Japan's Nippon Steel as the largest steel manufacturer in the world by 1998. POSCO has achieved its success by exploiting its cost advantage over Nippon, a strategy once used by Nippon against Western steel makers.

Aussies win by losing

Australian artists and novelists were once ashamed of their national culture, but now not only are young artists accepting their culture, they are celebrating it. This turn around in national pride came about in the Seventies.

Losing its bottle: French wine

Article Abstract:

Prices for some French wines, including Beaujolais, have fallen sharply following prosperous business during the 1980s. Prices for Beaujolais were cut in order to boost exports, which fell about 20% during the past two years.
