Stochastic modelling of combat with reinforcement

Article Abstract:

A stochastic model is presented for the analysis of combat between two homogeneous forces under conditions in which reinforcement is made on both sides at specified levels of force strength. Analysis of the effect of various termination decision rules based on changes in the state space of the Markov process of modern combat indicated the high time complexity of the continuous-time discrete-state stochastic process. Furthermore, the uniformized power method used an efficient error control for the modelling of homogeneous combat.

Coordinated condition-based repair strategies for components of multi-component maintenance system with discounts

Article Abstract:

A heuristic algorithm for calculating upper and lower control limit values for component repairs in a multi-component system is proposed. Its cost structure includes repair, operating and failure costs. A mani feature of the model is that repair cost reductions can be attained by coordinating the repair of several components and therefore shouldering set-up costs only once.
