Survey of mathematical programming models in air pollution management

Article Abstract:

A survey of mathematical programming models in air pollution management reveals a division into three major groups, namely, deterministic programming, goal programming and stochastic programming. These air pollution models have three basic features: cost reduction, air quality standards and transportation models based on diffusion processes. Applications and potential uses of these three major approaches for air pollution monitoring are examined.

System dynamics of eutrophication processes in lakes

Article Abstract:

A model was created to investigate the effects of eutrophication on plankton seasonal dynamics. The model, which is stated as a series of four differential equations as its state variables for the rates of change involving phytoplankton, zooplankton, nitrogen and phosphorus, specifically analyzes systems dynamics. The model illustrates a clear implementation of the system dynamics on the eutrophication processes taking place in lakes.
