Sweden, Norway to diverge on monetary goals

Article Abstract:

Both Sweden and Norway had stellar economic results in the beginning of the year, however their monetary policies are about to diverge as Sweden is in an economic slowdown. The Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden is expected to cut its two percent benchmark repurchase rate on June 21st, 2005. The Norges Bank, the central bank of Norway may increase its 1.75 percent policy rate on June 30th, 2005.

Norway, Sweden may raise rates as growth builds

Article Abstract:

Scandinavian economies are showing growth, expecting interest rate increases and outpacing the European Union. During the third quarter Sweden's gross domestic product grew 3.4 percent from a year ago, Norway's rose .8 percent and Denmark's grew 4.8 percent. Reasons for the hot economic activity are the growing housing market, low interest rates and reduced taxes.

Sweden's Central Bank increases interest rates

Article Abstract:

The Central Bank of Sweden has raised interest rates .25 percent to 2.50 percent after a flurry of economic growth in the summer months. Gross domestic product is up 5.5 percent in the second quarter from last year. Annual retail sales have increased 7.8 percent by July 2006.
