TATA TEA PLANNING ACQUISITION, SELLING BLITZ

Article Abstract:

Tata Tea Limited (TTL) plans to acquire another 21 tea gardens in Sri Lanka having a production capacity of six million kilograms (kg). TTL already has already acquired about 23 gardens in Sri Lanka which have capacity to produce 11 million kg of tea. TTL has increased its borrowing limits to Rs400 crore which will be used to make investments for enhancing its production capacity and raise its market share in domestic market. It also plans to offer stock option scheme for employees with a view to retain qualified and skilled workers in the company. (gs)

TEA OUTPUT UP 28 M kg FOR FIRST 9 MONTHS OF '98

The tea production of India during January-September 1998 period was 617.65 million kilograms (kg) (588.98 million kg during January-September period in 1997). In the South India, tea production was 149.65 million kg (147.18 million kg), while in the North India the production was 468 million kg (441.80 million kg). (gs)

TATA TEA LAUNCHES NEW BRAND IN CHENNAI

Tata Tea Limited has recently launched its new brand Tata Lucky Cup in Chennai. Tata Lucky Cup is priced at Rs16 for a 100 gram pack and Rs40 for a 250 gram pack. It is also available in 25, 50 and 500 gram packs. (gs) (khr)
