The net profit of the private sector power firm, Tata Electric Companies (TEC) increased by 39 percent to Rs320 crore for 1997- 98. TEC comprises Andhra Valley Corporation (AVC), Tata Hydro and Tata Power. The net profit of Tata Power increased by 40 percent to Rs160 crore while the net profit of AVC increased by 39 percent to Rs96 crore. The net profit of Tata Hydro increased by 37 percent. KPCL CHARGED UP WITH RECORD PROFIT

Article Abstract:

Karnataka Power Corporation Ltd (KPCL) has achieved an all-time high net profit of Rs154 crore in 1997-98 as compared to a net profit of Rs0.88 crore in 1996-97. The company's total power generation increased by 33 percent during the year. The good performance has been attributed to improvement in the load factor of Raichur Thermal Power Station, good monsoons and cost management. It has invested Rs587 crore in 1997-98 for new projects. (gs)
