Article Abstract:

India Cements Ltd (ICL) plans to merge its cement unit, Raasi Cement Ltd (RCL), with itself. The merger will come into effect from April 1, 1998. As ICL holds 90 percent stake in RCL, the merger will not create much of equity dilution. Visaka Cements Limited, which began its operations recently, will be amalgamated with ICL in 1999. ICL will hive off its shipping division into a separate firm. (gs)
