Tactical manouvre clears the field for Ahlers

Article Abstract:

Well-known German shirt and blouse maker, Passau-based Eterna Mode, was put up for auction in 1995 by its owners, the Gotz family. Drueker and Co. was chosen to advise the family on the company's divestment. Following several rounds of talks with interested parties, the field was narrowed to Adolf Ahlers and a small number of other buyers. Adolf Ahler's determination and motivation, together with an acceptable final bid, ensured its successful acquisition of Eterna Mode.

Fashionable flotation

Article Abstract:

There was very strong demand for shares in Italian leather goods and fashion concern Gucci when it was listed on the New York and Amsterdam stock exchanges on Oct 24, 1995. This led to the offer being increased by 8.5 million shares, or 48% of the enlarged group. However, strong demand did not mean that the flotation was necessarily easy to handle. It took a long time to plan, and the operation required close cooperation with international investment group Investcorp.

Sewing two firms together

Article Abstract:

The deal between corporate clothing suppliers PUC and Compton Webb in 1995 was extremely complicated. The latter concern, a non-core business of Coats Viyella, and PUC, part of the textile rental division of the Davis Service Group, were both purchased by a new company in a management buyout deal worth a total of 22 million pounds sterling. The merged operation now aims to become a leading business services company.
