Taiwan's high-tech path takes companies into China

Article Abstract:

Taiwan's high technology companies are making bigger investments in China to maximize opportunities in the mainland's huge market. Taiwanese businesses are spending on product development, state-of-the-art facilities and R&D to capture a share of the lucrative high-end market in the mainland. For its part, Beijing is offering tax breaks and exemptions to lure Taiwanese high-tech ventures. The exodus of Taiwanese firms to China, however, has alarmed the Taiwanese government, prompting it to urge these businesses to scale down their investments in China.
