Tarmac's heavy-materials unit to lead way in U.K. breakup

Article Abstract:

Tarmac PLC announced that it will divide its two main divisions to form a new Tarmac. One of the divisions will be Tarmac's heavy-materials business. In 1998, that division posted 150 million pound sterling ($243.5 million) in operating profits. The company's construction-services unit will include the Private Finance Unit. In the 1998 year, Tarmac posted a 14% rise in pretax profits.

CRH's pretax profit rises 3.2%

Pretax profit decreases 5.1% at Audi luxury-car unit
