Technology merger is believed to be biggest on record

JDS Uniphase Corp. has reached a deal to acquire SDL Inc. for approximately $41 billion (43.3 billion euros). The acquisition price is almost 50% higher than SDL's closing share price on July 7, 2000.

JDS Uniphase Corp.'s proposed acquisition of SDL Inc. has been approved by antitrust officials in the United States. JDS will acquire SDL for $18.7 billion (19.91 billion euros).
