Technology, progress and economic growth

Article Abstract:

Progress, technology and economic growth are connected in very complex ways, and it can be difficult to clearly see the effect which each has on the others. However, addressing this issue is of vital importance to managers, producers and governments, especially in the light of growing concerns about sustainability. It could be argued that it is now time to adopt a completely new economic strategy, overcoming unemployment and poor living standards by using human labour instead of fossil fuel and physical substances extracted from the environment.

Institutional and transaction cost influences on MNE's ownership strategies of their affiliates: evidence from an emerging market

Article Abstract:

The impact of institutional and transaction cost specific benefit variables on multinational enterprises' choice of equity ownership in their foreign affiliates is examined. The determinants of the choice of foreign investors between full ownership and sharing ownership with a local firm are considered. Findings show that institutional variables are important in explaining foreign affiliates' equity composition.
